Making film is a story of collaboration. Getting to know the film class led by Mr. Jacob Purkins at DSA revealed to me the scenes that I have never ventured into-the production process of a film. Along with the student director Jack Tolley and his production group, I witnessed how the process of filmmaking has offered so much more than writing scripts and recording shots. It is the process of building friendships, telling stories, and finding passions.
"To make a film, you got to have some ideas, and people to work with you to make those ideas happen," Mr. Purkins told me. Throughout the semester-long time that I spent with the students in the DSA film class, I am thrilled to be part of the community and to record their journeys toward the discovery of joy excitement, and determination.
